Job description

PART-TIME REMOTE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

The Schedule

This is a part-time, remote position requiring 20 hours per week, with shifts generally lasting four hours per day. Evening shifts may begin between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and typically end between 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.

Schedule flexibility is required. Candidates must be available and willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Workdays and days off will rotate based on business and operational needs. This is not a Monday-through-Friday or fixed-schedule position.

What You'll Do

As a Customer Service Representative, you will:

  • Answer incoming calls and provide professional, courteous, and helpful customer service.
  • Assist customers with questions about transit services, routes, schedules, trip planning, fares, and other transportation-related matters.
  • Use Google Maps, the RTC website, Swiftly, and other reference materials to research information and provide accurate answers.
  • Listen carefully to understand each customer's needs and concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with customers who may have disabilities or who may be frustrated, hostile, or confrontational.
  • Remain calm and professional while handling challenging interactions.
  • Follow established policies, procedures, and call-handling expectations.
  • Accurately document customer interactions.
  • Ask questions and seek assistance when needed.
  • Work independently while maintaining focus, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Maintain a positive, helpful, and solutions-oriented attitude.
  • Contribute to a team environment in which reliability, attendance, and accountability are essential.

Required Computer Equipment and Internet Connection

Successful candidates must provide their own computer equipment and internet service that meet the following requirements:

  • Windows 10 Pro or Windows 11 Pro. Windows Home and Home in S Mode are not compatible.
  • Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or a comparable processor. Celeron processors are not recommended.
  • At least 8 GB of RAM.
  • A hard drive with at least 128 GB of storage.
  • A wired Ethernet connection. Wi-Fi, mobile hotspots, and 5G connections are not permitted.
  • Wired internet service with a speed of at least 100 Mbps.
  • Chromebooks are not compatible and cannot be used for this position.
