Job description

Join our supportive Anesthesiology team where AAs, CRNAs and MDAs come together to ensure the highest level of patient care.

We take great pride in placing a strong emphasis on the wellbeing of our team and believe it's important to maintain a manageable workload to allow our staff to focus on quality patient outcomes and avoid burnout.

Our APPs manages all cases, excluding Trauma & Cardiac.

  • Full-time and Part-time opportunities

  • 12 hr. shifts (1.0 FTE 3x 12hr shifts plus 1x 8hr shift ever 2 weeks or .9 FTE 3x 12hr shifts)

  • No Nights & No holidays

  • Minimum weekend call:

    • Saturday & Sunday from 7a - 7p each day

    • Full-time: one weekend per month

    • Part-time: one weekend every other month

Administers anesthesia to patients rendering them insensitive to pain during surgery. Monitors the patient's physical reaction to the anesthetic and informs the physician of any adverse condition. Administers emergency measures when complications arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains a comprehensive patient history and performs relevant elements of a physical exam.
  • Discusses findings and anesthetic plan with supervising anesthesiologist before induction of anesthesia.
  • Reviews the patient's condition with the anesthesiologist immediately prior to the induction of anesthesia.
  • Pretests and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems.
  • Administers blood, blood products and supportive fluids.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited by an organization recognized by the board of regents.

Certifications:

  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
  • Current, valid certificate of registration.
  • Written practice protocol consistent with section 4760.09 of the Revised Code.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through American Red Cross are required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

WorkExperience:

  • None required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
