About The Kakos School of Arts and Sciences:

The Department of Communication, Sound, and Media Arts at Manhattan University invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Game Design and Productionfor the Fall 2026 semester. We value excellence in and commitment to teaching a diverse student population, as well as historically-informed, inclusive approaches to the discipline. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
Course Information:
  • The Culture of Games, which meets Tuesdays and Fridays, 11am-12:15pm, beginning August 25, 2026 and ending December 12, 2026.
  • This three-credit course for the major will have an enrollment capacity of 16 students and will take place in our Game Design and Video Editing Lab, which is equipped with an equal number of PCs with NVidia 5090 graphics processors and Unreal Engine software.
  • Course Description: This introductory course surveys the history of the videogame industry from its precursors in pre-digital culture to the present and near future. The course examines video game genres, theories of gameplay, gaming para-texts, careers in the field, and the marketing of games, and it introduces students to divisions of gaming, including design, coding, and narrative.

Salary Range Based on Experience:

  • Assistant Professor $1526.25 per credit
  • Associate Professor $1575.65 per credit
  • Professor $1625.04 per credit
