Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a C-arm/imaging equipment and perform diagnostic x-rays on patients as ordered by physician.

General Accountabilities: The following is a summary of the essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; specific functions may change from time to time.

  • Performs C-Arm Tech duties: sets up equipment and room as needed for exam, and make sure equipment is properly cleaned and stored after each exam;
  • Effectively operate C-arm(s) to produce quality image for surgeon to review and print films as requested;
  • Maintains all competencies, CEU’s, attends in-services and completes Radiology Safety Test as required.
  • Performs Transporter duties;
  • Obtains proper documentation amp;/or patient chart maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition and ensures that it is properly supplied for procedures.
  • Check equipment and accessories to ensure proper working order and notify appropriate personnel for repairs.
  • Communicates problems on shift with equipment or pending exams with appropriate staff.
  • Cleans Operating Room post procedure, including cleaning of equipment/machinery per infection control policies and procedures, as well as according to regulatory standards (ie: AAAHC, AORN, CDC, etc.).
  • Assists with inventory and ordering of supplies related to imaging
  • Input patient data into the C-Arm
  • Assists with preparing the patient for the surgical procedure by positioning and prepping.
  • Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance duties in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement meetings, meeting quality goals, and adhering to quality compliance.
  • Participate in Staff Meetings, OSHA Training, HIPAA Training, Infection Control Training, and other training

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility:Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology with one or more years of related work experience preferred. Current CPR certification required. Registered or Registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Knowledge of standard radiology equipment used in the operating room.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Graduate or Equivalent.

2. Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology

3. RT Certification required with current CE documentations.

4. One or more years of work experience in pain management and/or Ambulatory Surgery Center/ Hospital experience preferred.

5. Proficient with Imaging and related radiology equipment

6. CPR certification within probationary period.

7. Reads, writes, speaks, and comprehends the English language.

8. Intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling or pushing of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist; be able to kneel.

9. Must be able to perceive objects accurately as to size, temperature and texture.

10. Must have auditory acuity.

11. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

12. Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.

Eligibility: All employees must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States.

Skills/Knowledge/Ability:

Interpersonal:Effective communication skills; oral and written. Demonstrates a positive, friendly, and courteous manner. Serves as a role model to other staff members. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Demonstrates the ability to work well with physicians and other employees.

Critical Thinking: Ability to adhere to the work schedule and manage time appropriately. Assumes responsibility for competency and takes initiative for professional development and continuing education. Ability to handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks. Above average organization skills.

Knowledge: Working knowledge and experience in a hospital, operating room, or ambulatory surgery center. Knowledge of standard radiology equipment used in the operating room. Thorough knowledge of radiologic technology, the scientific principles behind the work and also recognizing the human elements involved.

MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDES: Imaging and related radiology equipment, telephone and fax.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:Occasional overtime. Must handle stress in meeting time demands.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to walk, stand for long periods of time, bend, sit, pull and push carts and equipment. Able to efficiently move/push/pull C-arm from room to room and effectively position the C-arm. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs regularly.

The Radiology Technologist is classified as a non-exempt employee and is eligible for overtime pay according to the provisions stated in the surgery center’s personnel policies.

Job Types: Part-time, Per diem

Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
