Job description

Business Administrator (Part-Time – Approximately 25 Hours/Week)

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative Business Administrator to oversee the daily business operations of the church. This position supports the congregation, ministry teams, Church Council, and staff through leadership in financial management, personnel administration, office operations, and facility management.

Schedule: Approximately 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Attending monthly Finance meetings and quarterly Preschool Board meetings is required. The monthly Church Council meetings is strongly encouraged as well.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage church and preschool finances, accounting records, payroll, budgets, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee personnel records, policies, staff coordination, and compliance with employment regulations.
  • Supervise church office operations, administrative staff, volunteers, and office systems.
  • Coordinate building usage, facility scheduling, maintenance, vendors, and service contracts.
  • Support effective communication and collaboration among church leadership, staff, and ministry teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles; fund accounting experience is helpful but not required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications; participate in the payroll platform training that will be provided. Experience with Church360 is a plus but not required.
