What is a part time business consultant?

Part time business consultants are professionals who provide expert advice and guidance to businesses on a contractual or as-needed basis, rather than working full-time for a single employer. They typically help organizations identify problems, develop strategies, and implement solutions to improve efficiency, profitability, and growth. Part time consultants often work with multiple clients simultaneously, offering flexibility for both the consultant and the company. They can specialize in areas such as management, marketing, finance, or operations depending on their expertise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time business consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Business Consultant, you need strong analytical abilities, business acumen, and relevant industry experience, often supported by a degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools, data analysis software, and presentation platforms like PowerPoint is typically expected. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for building client trust and navigating diverse business challenges. These skills and qualities are essential for delivering valuable insights and practical solutions efficiently within a limited timeframe.

How does a part time business consultant typically structure their workweek and manage multiple client projects?

Part-time business consultants often divide their workweek among several clients, balancing on-site meetings, virtual consultations, and independent analysis. The ability to prioritize tasks and maintain clear communication with clients is essential, as you may need to juggle overlapping deadlines and varied project scopes. Consultants regularly collaborate with client teams, providing recommendations and actionable plans while adapting to each organization's unique needs. Flexibility and strong organizational skills are key to succeeding in this dynamic, project-based environment.

Sales Business Development Consultant (Contract Role)

Mavida Health

Austin, TX โ€ข On-site

Full-time, Part-time

Job description

Contract to start, with a path to full time
(We're open to full time immediately for an exceptional candidate)

Mavida Health is an online therapy and psychiatry platform focused on supporting women through major transitional moments in life - from PMOS & PMDD through Menopause and everything in between. We provide integrated, evidence-based care through individual, group, and couples therapy as well as medication management, co-founded and led by reproductive psychiatrist Dr. Sarah Oreck.
Now a WPS Healthcare Company, Mavida Health combines the best of both worlds: the speed, autonomy, and impact of a high-growth startup with the resources and reach of a legacy healthcare organization. Our team is small, nimble, and mission-driven, which means ideas move quickly, decisions are made close to the work, and every employee plays a meaningful role in shaping the company's future. As we continue to grow, we're looking for people who are excited to build, innovate, and help redefine women's mental healthcare at scale.
What are we looking for?

We are looking to contract with a part-time Business Development Consultant (1099 - 15 hours weekly) to support organizational growth, patient acquisition, professional relationship management, and brand awareness.

As a consultant with Mavida Health, you will have a rare opportunity to help build and define our organization as we combat the maternal mental health crisis.

While we have a multi-channel BD approach, relationships and referrals from professionals such as OB/GYN’s, Fertility clinics, Doulas, etc. are primary drivers of customer acquisition.

In this bonus-eligible position, you will help connect those who are in need of mental health support to our services.

Ideal candidates have existing connections in OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Mental Health, Labor and Delivery, Midwifery, and other related and similar professions.

The business development consultant will:

  • Generate referrals from OB/GYNs, midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, and other healthcare partners through prospecting, relationship building, and account management
  • Serve as our “Boots on the Ground” in your territory
  • Document all activities in HubSpot and provide regular market updates to leadership
  • Achieve monthly referral and admission targets (specifics TBD with leadership)
  • Represent Mavida at local conferences or events when available
  • Be comfortable wearing multiple hats - even those that don’t fit squarely and traditionally within your job description, because hey, we’re a startup!

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, with 3+ years of experience working in sales, specifically in healthcare, pharma, or behavioral health, with proven results
  • Self-starter with a “no problem is too big or too small” attitude
  • Located in Austin, TX or within commuting distance
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to visit practices in person
  • Strong networking skills to connect with providers, professionals, and stakeholders with an existing book of business with professionals in the health space
  • Ability to build and execute a strategic sales plan
  • Comfort with CRMs or HubSpot specifically
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Passion for women’s healthcare, maternal healthcare, and/or mental healthcare - and the desire and drive to change the dismal status quo

KPIs:

  • Monthly referral goals
  • Monthly admissions goals

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Mavida Health, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles in the future.

Benefits

Hourly rate range (based on experience/expertise): Starting at $60/hr

  • Flexible work hours/schedule
  • Comprehensive training/onboarding
