Job description

SUMMARY
This position will lead our team of welders, fabricators, fitters, equipment operators, and blast/coaters. This position is accountable for schedule adherence and project execution in an efficient and safe manner within all quality parameters. Position is hands on and has end to end responsibility form planning/scheduling, project release, resource loading, fabrication, coating, and project loadout. The Manager will liaison with Senior Leadership, Safety, Quality, Project Management, and Purchasing to ensure successful execution of project requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees the production of fabrication shops, ensuring production objectives are met.
  • Coaches, mentors, and supports direct reports to ensure personal growth, organizational achievement, and an engaging work environment.
  • Responsible for employee relations, housekeeping, safety, production, and training. Leads by example.
  • Generates work schedules to comply with the production schedule and schedules overtime as needed.
  • Hire, train, develop, and motivate production personnel to follow procedures, meet high quality standards, production schedules, and productivity requirements.
  • Work closely with Engineering to resolve drawing issues and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Document and report any variances, problems, issues, or concerns. Actively engage resolution of the identified items.
  • Follows project progress through the shop in accordance to production requirements and schedules.
  • Ensure orders leave departments as scheduled, complete and without deviation.
  • Evaluate and conduct formal annual performance reviews for production personnel.
  • Enforce company safety policies and practices. Recognizes potential hazards and unsafe behavior and initiates corrective measures.
  • Assist in development and implementation of quality improvement methods and cost-saving ideas.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in related technical field (Preferred)
  • Fabrication Supervisory experience: 5 years (Required)
  • Must have the ability to read and understand blueprint drawings.
  • Must have familiarity with standard material, plate, and bolt grades.
  • Must have welding background and familiarity with GMAW, FCAW, SMAW.
  • Must have familiarity with fabrication equipment (burn table, press brake, plate rolls, angle lines, beam lines, overhead cranes, and other common processing equipment).
  • Experience with MRP systems (Tekla) Preferred.
  • Understand quality inspection process VT, PT, MT, UT, RT.
  • Have a working knowledge of code requirements AISC, ASME, AWS, ISO.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to prioritize in a demanding environment.
