IMMEDIATE OPENING:ย Brown County Schools is currently seekingย 1 part-time Preschool Paraprofesional for Helmsburg Elementary School.ย  The position serves students ages 3-5 years and is fully inclusive. Candidates with an Associates Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a Child Care Development Certificate (CDA) from a nationally recognized program, are encouraged to apply.ย  Candidates with years of experience working in early childhood education who are willing to attain a CDA upon employment will also be considered.ย  The Helmsburg Elementary Preschool program currently has a Level 3 Paths to Quality Certification.
Job Summary
Provides a developmentally appropriate environment primarily for preschool aged children. ย Conducts individual activities to encourage learning and develop social interaction skills. ย  Ensure routines are flexible and individualized to meet the needs of the students being served. ย Prepares and/or serves children's meals. ย Maintains appropriate records or attendance and activities.
Essential Functions






  • Assists in planning age-appropriate, individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.
  • Assists in the development and management of an attractive and engaging environment that encourages children's independence and self-selection of activities.
  • Helps to implement hands on activities that include a balance of child initiated and teacher initiated activities.
  • Alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid overstimulation and fatigue.
  • Helps children develop habits of caring for themselves, their belongings, toys, books, and other classroom materials.
  • Ensures the daily schedule provides for smooth transitions and consistency in routines, yet is flexble, allowing variations to accommodate the individual needs of children.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
