Position Summary

The Host is responsible for creating an exceptional first impression for guests visiting Blue Arena's premium hospitality spaces, restaurants, clubs, and special event areas. This position warmly welcomes guests, manages seating, coordinates reservations, and works closely with servers and management to ensure an outstanding dining experience before, during, and after arena events. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, event-driven environment while delivering exceptional hospitality and customer service. Blue Arena hosts a variety of sporting events, concerts, family shows, and private functions, requiring flexibility and professionalism throughout every event.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $16.00-$17.00.

Responsibilities
  • Welcome guests with a warm, professional, and engaging attitude while creating a positive first impression.
  • Greet guests upon arrival, verify reservations when applicable, and efficiently manage seating assignments.
  • Escort guests to their tables while providing information about venue amenities, menus, and event offerings.
  • Maintain accurate waitlists and communicate estimated wait times in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Coordinate seating flow with servers, bartenders, supervisors, and culinary staff to maximize efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor dining room capacity and table availability to ensure smooth guest flow throughout service.
  • Assist with table resets and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming entrance and host station.
  • Answer guest questions regarding menus, dietary accommodations, premium spaces, and arena amenities.
  • Assist with food and beverage service support when needed, including running food, clearing tables, or supporting other front-of-house team members.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally or escalate issues to management when appropriate.
  • Ensure restaurant, club, or hospitality spaces are fully prepared 15 minutes prior to guest arrival and event start times.
  • Maintain cleanliness of menus, podiums, waiting areas, and guest-facing spaces throughout each event.
  • Work collaboratively with the food and beverage team to provide exceptional hospitality during concerts, sporting events, and special events.
  • Follow all company policies, sanitation standards, food safety procedures, and responsible alcohol service guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Host, Receptionist, or in a customer-facing hospitality role is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a restaurant, sports venue, hotel, country club, or event venue is a plus.
  • Outstanding customer service skills with a genuine passion for hospitality.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional appearance and ability to represent Blue Arena and Oak View Group in a positive manner.
  • Ability to remain calm, friendly, and organized in a fast-paced, high-volume event environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on the event schedule.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout an event shift.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required food handler, alcohol service, and other certifications required by state or local regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, volunteers, supervisors, and management while fostering a positive and respectful work environment.
