Sandusky Career Center - Adult EducationQualifications: Current Barber Instructor's License issued by the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board. Ability to obtain an Ohio Adult Education Permit.
Reports to: Cosmetology and Barber Coordinator
Job Goals: Instructors assess the learning needs of students, plan, implement and evaluate classroom and lab instruction. Instructors ensure the program requirements are being met by each student. May be assigned to any Barber related program.
Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Assesses the learning needs of the student, design and implement teaching strategies that will assist the student to meet the course objectives.
  2. Supervise students and be available to the students to provide guidance, direction, and support appropriate to the learning situation.
  3. Maintains communication with Program Coordinator, other faculty members, and students via email, telephone, text, within 24 hours of first contact.
  4. Maintains work calendar to ensure all class periods and outreach events are covered by Barber faculty team. Reports for shifts as scheduled.
  5. Demonstrate professional communication and the ability to work with students, staff, faculty, district administration, the Board of Education, community members and organizations.
  6. Maintains a positive classroom environment, positive interaction with students and clients, praises, motivates, and acknowledges student progress. Develops positive rapport.
  7. Demonstrate appropriate academic planning, develops plans in advance of scheduled activities, plans activities that reflect goals and objectives, carries out and follows planned instructional routines.
  8. Facilitates student learning by supplementing regular curriculum materials with a variety of instructional materials and activities, media, field trips, demonstrations, and guest speakers.
  9. Recruits for and promotes all Sandusky Career Center training programs.
  10. Participates in career fairs and open houses.
  11. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings.
  12. Demonstrate responsibility for continued professional growth, competence and development; attends education programs/seminars relevant to primary teaching responsibilities and faculty development.

  11. Confidentiality: Maintains confidentiality of student, staff and faculty information.
