POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This is a technical position for the Agency's Cloud Center of Excellence team, with a focus on Microsoft Azure Administration, and Cloud Solutions Architecture. This position is on-call eligible.
• Designs, implements, and maintains scalable, secure, and highly available cloud architectures within Microsoft Azure to support enterprise applications and services.
• Serves as a technical lead and subject matter expert for Microsoft Azure cloud solutions, providing guidance to development, infrastructure, and security teams on best practices and architecture standards.
• Develops and enforces cloud governance, architecture standards, and operational procedures as part of the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE).
• Automates infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Cloudshell, and Azure Templates.
• Monitors system performance, availability, and cost optimization across Azure and other cloud environments, implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Leads cloud migration efforts, including assessment, planning, design, and execution of on-premises to cloud transitions.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to design and deliver cloud-based solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Implements and manages security controls, identity and access management (IAM), and compliance frameworks within Azure and other cloud environments.
• Troubleshoots complex cloud infrastructure and application issues in production environments, providing timely resolution and root cause analysis.
• Provides mentorship and technical direction to junior engineers and administrators, supporting team development and knowledge sharing.
• Evaluates emerging cloud technologies and services, making recommendations for adoption to improve service delivery and innovation.
• Supports on-call rotations and responds to incidents, outages, and emergency situations as needed.
• Documents system architectures, configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
This position may require on-call duty and overtime as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure core services, including computer, storage, networking, and databases, as well as cloud architecture principles such as high availability, fault tolerance, scalability, and disaster recovery; knowledge of cloud security best practices including Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, and compliance frameworks; knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Azure Templates, Chef, Puppet, and AWS CloudFormation; knowledge of networking concepts including Hub and Spoke Architecture, Azure VNET design, routing, DNS, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity; and knowledge of system administration practices in Linux and/or Windows environments.
Skill in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions; troubleshooting complex infrastructure and application issues in production environments; automating processes through scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash); monitoring, logging, and performance tuning using Azure-native and third-party tools; leading technical teams and coordinating solution delivery; and communicating technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to architect and implement enterprise-level cloud solutions aligned with organizational goals; lead and mentor team members while promoting best practices and continuous improvement; manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; analyze complex problems and implement effective solutions; work independently and collaboratively across teams; maintain clear and accurate documentation; and respond effectively to on-call incidents, outages, and emergency situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
• 4 years of experience administering Microsoft Azure in a production environment.
• 2 years of experience in a technical leadership role, such as Technical Team Lead, Solutions Architect, or Solutions Delivery Lead.
• 8 years of experience in systems administration within a production environment.
PREFERENCES
• Experience working in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)).
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Azure Templates, and AWS CloudFormation.
• Azure Solutions Architect - Expert certification.
• Experience with cloud cost optimization and governance frameworks.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
• Experience working in a government or large enterprise environment.
