Department: Coliseum                                                                     FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Classification/Level:  Part-Time                                                      Date:  12/2022

Under the Direction of the Technical Manager of Audio/Video Services, the part-time A/V Event Production staff will assist management and technical support with the arena scoreboard, electronic boards with Audio/Video production.    This position is Not Covered (at-will) as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Operates shoulder or fixed mounted cameras during events, including closely following the action, keeping the picture in focus to maintain a quality image for live and recorded videos.
  • Operates the switchers and control surfaces for video playback and camera shots.  Calling camera shots and directions for camera operators in the event area.
  • Runs replay system for slow-motion playback of goals.  Maintains focus and keeps pace with face-paced action for quick clip recalls.
  • Runs Scoreboard display software for games/events.  Recall graphics and media playback for crowd engagement.
  • Sets up and takes down audio-visual camera equipment and cabling.  This includes adjusting all necessary settings, including white and color balance, using vector scope on switchers.
  • Maintains, diagnoses and repair issues related to broadcast and production systems in live studio and broadcast environments.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Event Manager or other members of senior management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working knowledge of camera systems and control functions, including operations and basic troubleshooting of video equipment required
  • At least two to three years of relevant or similar work experience in the operation of audio and video telecommunication/studio equipment
  • Experience using camera , audio boards, control switchers, audio-visual camera equipment and cabling
  • Ability to take direction as given by the director or producer 
  • Work well in a team to complete tasks and goals given to the AV production team
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends to work events
  • Requires good working knowledge and the ability to use basic computer knowledge of windows operating systems
  • Ability to stand, sit, crouch, and hold up to 30 lbs. for long periods of time

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

The A/V Event Production staff maintains frequent contact with other employees, promoters, exhibitors, vendors, clients and guests of the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The A/V Event Production staff work in a standard office environment with the ability to move about freely with frequent sitting, typing, finger dexterity, color distinction, attention to detail, visual inspection, hand/eye coordination, and hearing.  Some lifting up to thirty pounds, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, grasping, holding, writing, and speaking are to be expected. The A/V Event Production staff  have frequent exposure to extreme noise and some dangerous equipment, forklifts, heavy equipment, and confined spaces.
