Summary

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Adjunct Faculty - Music who will be all-in on our mission and who will teach applied instrumental and vocal private lessons and/or other music courses. Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, studio, or laboratory and immediate preparation for respective courses; maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught, preparing teaching materials and evaluating student work/performances.
This position is filled on an as need basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate's Degree or above
Preferred: Master's Degree or above
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Professional experience with demonstrated teaching competence for the subject and levels taught. Professional experience includes composition, performance, conducting, audio mixing, etc., and is separate from teaching experience.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach Music course(s) utilizing appropriate and engaging instructional methods and techniques.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that promote student involvement and application of the material.
  • Submit college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Meet with and advise students before/after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  • Participate in course and curriculum development, revision and evaluation.
  • Design and implement assessments to measure student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance and academic performance.
  • Perform effective teaching activities, including classroom instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships.
  • Plan, develop and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
