Position SummaryThe
Training Academy, part of the Department of Criminal Justice at Sinclair Community College, offers both pre-service and in-service training to support the needs of area law enforcement and corrections agencies. Peace Officer Basic and Corrections training offered through the Criminal Justice Training Academy follows the curriculum and standards of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission, and all commanders and instructors are certified by OPOTA. We also add content to the Basic curriculum beyond that required by the State.

Summary of Commander Qualifications:- High school graduate or possession of a "General Education Development" certificate
- Seven years of experience as a full-time law enforcement officer, two of which must be as a full-time law enforcement supervisor
- Completion of ninety quarter hours or sixty semester hours at an accredited college or university
- Professional references from three current police administrators of the rank of lieutenant or above
- No convictions for a felony, crime of moral turpitude, offense of violence, sexually oriented or child-victim oriented offense, or any other peace officer disqualifying offense
