Marymount University seeks qualified individuals to teach Engineering lectures and laboratories. Qualified applicants will be contacted as a teaching need arises in Mechanical and Biomedical engineering. Courses of interest may include calculus-based physics, statics, dynamics, CAD design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and others. Adjunct faculty are professionals with the responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for Marymount University students on a semester basis. Adjunct faculty report to a dean, chair, or director and perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the university. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Each adjunct is hired to instruct a particular course (s) within a department. A supervisor will review all duties as assigned, particular to the course(s) being contracted to be taught. Primary Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in assigned discipline
- Prepare and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction (in-person, hybrid, or online as assigned)
- Develop syllabi and course materials aligned with departmental standards
- Assess student performance and provide timely feedback
- Maintain regular communication with students and department leadership
- Uphold university academic policies and integrity standards
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Physics, Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the field of teaching required
- Demonstrated expertise or professional experience in the subject area
- Strong communication and instructional skills
- Commitment to inclusive excellence and student success

- Prior college-level teaching experience
- Experience with learning management systems and online teaching platforms
- Experience working with diverse and first-generation student populations

Compensation/Benefits
Adjuncts receive remuneration on a semester basis, and may range from $1,200/credit hour.
They may make their own contribution to a 403b retirement plan.
