Job Opening: Elementary Art Teacher (Part Time - Full Time)
St. Therese Catholic Academy (STCA) seeks an Elementary Art teacher for the 26-27 school year. With the anticipation of job renewal upon mutual agreement. This is a self-contained role as part of our team. The Art teacher will be in charge of teaching Art to Kindergarten - 8th grade. Specific assignments for additional time will be determined based on school needs and candidates' strengths.
STCA is a Preschool-8th grade Catholic elementary school in the heart of the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, just 2 miles east of downtown. St. Therese is a welcoming, diverse, and faith-filled community that has been igniting the faith, minds, and dreams of our students since 1927. The school currently serves 135 students ages 3-14, 35% of whom receive free/reduced lunch. Our families commute from over 32 zip codes to be a part of our community, and over 60% of our families receive tuition assistance. Our staff (the Dream Team) has about 35 team members and is expanding along with our enrollment.
The Art Teacher has the wonderful opportunity to work with every single student at STCA, and help them develop not only their artistic skills, but their mental strength and appreciation for art in our world as well. Opportunities for collaboration, joint planning through the PLC process, and implementing creative new ideas exist and are welcome. Applicants should be mission-driven, highly motivated, dedicated, and creative individuals who are interested in working with students and families from all backgrounds in a diverse, Catholic setting. The ideal candidate will bring passion, energy, faith, and a strong work ethic and enjoy partnering with colleagues and parents. The candidate must also desire to help students of varying ability levels succeed. We expect all team members to lead by example.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Education of similar field (Master's preferred)
  • Understanding and genuine appreciation of children
  • Desire to work in a racially and economically diverse, faith-centered community
  • Ability to utilize educational technology in the classroom
  • Preferred active Catholic
  • Current Washington (or out of state) teaching certificate (or the ability to obtain one) with a (preferably) K-5 (minimum) endorsement
