The Ephrata Area School District, 803 Oak Boulevard, Ephrata, PA 17522, is currently recruiting for part-time Special Education Para Educators. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Para Educators to join our team and support students with disabilities in their educational journey.
The Para Educator will work closely with special education teachers and other professionals to provide individualized assistance to students, ensuring they have access to a quality education. Our Para Educators assist supporting the students at the direction of the teacher and are under the general supervision of the program supervisor of special education. The positions are assigned specifically to a student or group of students who regularly need one on one or group assistance to maintain appropriate and equitable participation in the school setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with disabilities in the classroom, helping them with academic tasks and daily activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and document student progress and behavior, reporting findings to the special education team.
  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills and independence.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require an associate's degree or higher).
  • Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a classroom setting.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (may be required).

Workplace Expectations:
  • Must demonstrate regular and punctual attendance. Must interact positively with administration, students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior & speech and dress in a neat, clean, and professional manner.
  • Must follow all District policies, work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority.
  • Must maintain the integrity of confidential information within the Business Office.
  • Follow established protocols as outlined in Student/Faculty/Support Staff handbook

Other Requirements: Applicants must possess the following criminal clearances obtained within the last 12 months: Act 34 - PA Criminal Record; Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance.
The Ephrata Area School District also requires a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test upon offer of employment as directed by PDE and the PA Department of Health.
Hourly rate based on experience working with students in a school setting.
