Job description

Title: CAD Engineering Designer
Location: Glendale, AZ
Company: Fortune 100 Food & Beverage Manufacturing (FuseGlobal has worked with this company for 20 years)
Initial term: 11 months (position expected to run longer)
Schedule: 24 hours per week. Part Time, three days per week 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (hybrid: one or two days on site) ; Willingness to travel to other factory and vendor locations is required, with travel expectations of 10-20%.

About This Role: 

The CAD Engineering Designer will utilize AutoCAD 2025 to provide preliminary design and drafting support for Factory Engineering, focusing on Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines. This role includes assisting in the preparation of supporting documents for capital investment proposals in collaboration with factory and Group Engineering teams. The CAD Drafter will need to be proficient in AutoCAD 2D, 3D, and Autodesk Inventor, enabling the creation of industrial drawings for equipment tooling, layouts, process flow sheets, P&IDs, and fabrication details. Additionally, the CAD Drafter will prepare specifications to meet comprehensive design responsibilities and may work with BIM360 and AutoCAD Construction Cloud (ACC). The ability to assemble bid packages following AIA specifications and execute small projects is essential.


What You'll Do:

  • Ensure that factory key drawings are kept up-to-date and properly archived at the factory or site.
  • Support the factory engineers and operations teams in establishing layouts and flow sheets during the conceptual and basic design phases of projects related to new products, new process lines, and line improvement projects.
  • Support various large print requests for factory events, VIP visits, etc.
  • Propose and define different alternatives to support the Early Management principles.
  • Support engineers or other factory functions with technical concepts and basic design for operational projects, including machine or tooling design using AutoDesk Inventor to support Early Management principles.
  • Update and coordinate technical guidelines and specifications related to drawings.
  • Maintain and ensure standards for engineering drawings are consistently applied in the factory in accordance with Group Engineering drawing standards.
  • Own the organization of Engineering Drawing and manuals in both paper and electronic format. Support project turnover from Engineers to ensure manuals and drawings are properly archived for Engineering and Maintenance activities. Digitize drawings as necessary.
  • Provide training to factory engineers or any third-party contractors engaged in the preparation of factory project or operational drawings.
  • Manage small building improvement/upgrade projects with contractor supervision.
  • Support the Engineering Department with SAP and NIMT Administration.
  • Must be willing to travel to other factories and vendor sites as required to support resident factory project requirements.

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required, college degree in a related field, preferred.
  • Professional certification in industrial design/drafting, specifically using AutoCAD, preferred.
  • Technically competent and highly proficient in AutoCAD 2D/3D to help support Early Management principles.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in industrial design, preferred.
  • Work experience in a TPM environment is preferred.
  • AutoDesk Inventor or AutoCAD factory design suite experience is a plus.

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with applicable hygiene details for food plant design.
  • Ability to prepare architectural, mechanical, and electrical designs, in terms of layout, code requirements and specifications.
  • Familiarity with multiple engineering discipline coordination, planning and execution.
  • Strong drafting and documentation skills.
