Job description

Part-Time Faculty - Art and Design Technical (South)
Teaching Art & Design Technical related coursework.
Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed if openings become available. These positions are not current vacancies. Instructors employed as part-time faculty are not entitled to all the rights, privileges, and benefits of regular, full-time employees. Part-time faculty are hired on an "as needed" basis and will work for the duration of time specified by the respective course. A portion of teaching assignment may be evening classes and possibly weekend classes. Faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location.
Required Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • One year teaching graphic design or related courses in an adult education environment such as at a university or college level or in continuing and professional development. Workshops and seminars will be considered on a case-by-case basis. (Graduate school teaching appointment or assistantship experience may be considered.)
  • Minimum three years of demonstrated practical work experience in design or related fields.
  • Evidence of an ongoing and active professional work record presented via a portfolio.

Preferred Education / Experience:
  • Master's degree or equivalent in graphic design or a related field.
  • Two years of teaching at a university or college level beyond graduate school; experience with developing multi-faceted professional design campaigns; expertise in two or more of the following areas:
    • Print Design and Typography
    • Data storytelling / information graphics
    • Responsive web design
    • Responsive identities
    • Information architecture
    • GUI design
    • Motion graphics
