Department Summary

The Department of Biological Sciences, one of five departments in the College of Science, has over 50 faculty, 175 graduate and 3,000 undergraduate students. Our faculty is a community of scholars dedicated to research and teaching in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, Plant Biology, and Organismal environment interactions. We offer Bachelor's degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, Ecology, Medical Laboratory Science, and Forensic Science, and Master's and PhDs in Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Environmental Science. Position Overview

The Department of Biological Sciences seeks a qualified individual to teach Forensic Microscopy for students in the Forensic Science Program which is offered once a year. This posting is for the Fall 2026 semester. Course availability is dependent upon program or department teaching need, sufficient student enrollment, and college approval.
As professional part-time faculty, Adjunct Instructors plan classes, implement learning objectives, evaluate student learning outcomes, and adhere to college, department, and division responsibilities, including holding regular office hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree with professional expertise, certification, or licensure in forensics, microscopic trace materials, firearms evidence, or similar.


Experience in forensic science and one year of college-level teaching required.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of experience with microanalysis of trace evidence (hair, paint, glass, fibers, soil, GSR) and bullet striations.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Physical Requirements

Communicating with others to exchange information.
