What you'll be doing:

Schedule: Part-time overnight shift, 6:30pm-7:00am, 2 days/week. Working with children and adults at Eating Recovery Center's residential facility in Hunt Valley, MD. Active Maryland LPN licensure required.

The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide and assist in direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, APP or physician. The LPN will provide medical management of patients and assist with environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population in accordance with the legal scope of practice and within established standards of care, policies and procedures. The LPN will demonstrate performance consistent with the Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan of the organization, demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice and treat coworkers, patients, families and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect. The LPN will partner with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.

The LPN will cross train across ERC and Pathlight and may be required to float or be assigned to other locations/facilities within the Region. The LPN may be required to work on-call shifts based on business needs, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local labor laws.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Performs all nursing care within scope of practice to assigned patients under the supervision of an RN, APP, or provider
    • Manages patient assignment within assigned shift
    • Performs and documents vital signs, responses to treatment, education and nursing care and assists with other basic medical care tasks assigned
    • Reports abnormal changes in patients or patients' health and mental status to RN or provider in a timely manner
    • Receives, places and documents provider orders/communication in timely manner using approved abbreviations
    • Effectively labels, collects and processes patient specimens
    • Administers medications, injections, places and maintains nasogastric tube feeds, and provides wound care according to facility and state regulations
    • May assist licensed provider with patient examinations and treatments by positioning, restraining patients, and assisting as directed
    • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
    • Ensures that care reflects goals of patient outcome activities
  • Contributes to individualized treatment plans in conjunction with the ERC multidisciplinary team
  • Participates in daily controlled substance count
  • Aides in transition/transfer of patients to and from other units or facilities
  • Collaborates with staff to assist with transportation arrangements for patient appointments outside of ERC
  • Responds to emergency situations until emergency response team (911) arrives on scene

Must haves:

  • High school diploma or GED (Required)
  • Active LPN license in the state job is held (Required)
  • BLS certification (Required)
  • Ability to keep patient information confidential (Required)
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations (Required)

Bonus qualities:

  • 1+ years of experience working with in the mental health field, IV skills/certification, knowledge/experience with nasogastric tubes (Preferred)
