Part-Time / Per Diem Veterinarian
Cody's Clinic - SPCA Westchester
SPCA Westchester is seeking a Part-Time or Per Diem Veterinarian to join the medical team on Thursdays at Cody's Clinic, our state-of-the-art veterinary facility located in Briarcliff Manor, NY.
At Cody's Clinic, our veterinarians provide high-quality, compassionate medical care to shelter animals as well as pets from the Westchester community, the Hudson Valley, and surrounding boroughs. This is an opportunity to practice veterinary medicine in a mission-driven environment, where your work directly improves the lives of animals in need.
The Part-Time / Per Diem Veterinarian will work closely with and report to our full-time Medical Director, ensuring clinical mentorship, collaboration, and support in complex medical cases.
Our veterinarians are supported by an experienced team of veterinary technicians and animal care staff, allowing doctors to focus on providing excellent medical care while working collaboratively within a compassionate and professional team. Our veterinarians are trusted to use their professional judgment and practice medicine in a way that prioritizes the best interests of each animal. We emphasize thoughtful, high-quality care and maintain a manageable daily caseload to support excellent patient outcomes.
This position offers the opportunity to practice meaningful veterinary medicine while improving the lives of animals in need, all within a supportive clinic environment.
Schedule
Thursdays 9am-5pm
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate and high-quality medical care to shelter animals and community pets
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnose and treat medical conditions
  • Administer vaccinations, diagnostic testing, and preventative care
  • Participate in surgical procedures, including high-quality/high-volume spay and neuter (training available if needed)
  • Work collaboratively with veterinary technicians, animal care staff, and shelter leadership to support animal welfare
  • Maintain accurate medical records and uphold best practices in veterinary care

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree
  • Active New York State Veterinary License in good standing
  • Professional liability insurance
  • Experience in shelter medicine, general practice, or high-volume surgery preferred but not required
  • A compassionate veterinarian who enjoys working as part of a collaborative and mission-driven team
