Position Summary
The Division of Allied Health Sciences is seeking Part Time Hourly Instructors for our American Heart Association courses. As a part time AHA specialist, you work with students at a college to provide the knowledge and training they need to be successful in their chosen career. Your ability to work on a course-by-course basis gives you the flexibility to choose when you want to work and when you don't.
Duties and Responsibilities
Typical duties of AHA instructors include but aren't limited to:
• Teach community & technical college students in a specific field of expertise and engage with students to help them learn.
• Plan and execute the AHA curriculum
• Grade students post AHA exams and practical skill evaluations
• Properly fill out required rosters, skill evaluations, and other AHA paperwork
• Advise students on how to be successful in class
• Stay updated on innovations and changes within their course field
Minimum Qualifications
Education
• High School Diploma required
• Associates Degree or higher preferred
• American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor in BLS for Healthcare Providers required
• American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Experience
• 2 years of related experience in Healthcare (EMS, Nursing, etc.) preferred
• 1-year related experience American Heart Association classes preferred
• Teaching experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely while speaking and in writing
• Ability to teach utilizing real-world experience
• Can utilize email and other AV equipment
• Understands how to utilize the AHA resources
• Demonstrated passion about academic field and education in general
