What is a part time aide?

Part time aides are support staff who work less than full-time hours to assist in various settings such as schools, healthcare facilities, or offices. Their responsibilities typically include helping with daily tasks, supporting professionals, and ensuring smooth operations. The exact duties of a part time aide can vary depending on the workplace, but they often assist with administrative work, basic care tasks, or student support. Part time aides usually work flexible hours, making the role suitable for those needing a non-traditional work schedule.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time aide, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Aide, you need basic caregiving knowledge, reliability, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with scheduling software, basic first aid, and, in some settings, CPR certification can be beneficial. Strong communication, patience, and a supportive attitude help build trust with clients or students and foster a positive environment. These skills and qualities ensure the aide can provide effective assistance, maintain safety, and support the well-being of those they serve.

Common Search & ComparisonPart Time Aide vs Part Time Teacher

Part Time Aides typically assist teachers or staff in educational or healthcare settings, focusing on support tasks. Part Time Teachers are responsible for delivering instruction and managing classrooms. While both roles may require similar credentials, Teachers have more direct instructional responsibilities, making the roles distinct in scope and duties.

What are some common challenges faced by part time aides, and how can they effectively manage them?

Part time aides often balance multiple responsibilities, such as assisting with daily tasks, supporting staff, and providing direct care or supervision to clients or students. A common challenge is adapting quickly to changing needs and schedules, especially when working with diverse groups or filling in for other staff. Effective time management, clear communication with supervisors, and staying organized are key strategies for managing these challenges. Building good relationships within the team and seeking feedback can also help aides thrive and feel more confident in their role.

Strong Leaders. Strong Connections. 50 Years of Great Futures.
The Membership Aide greets members, parents, and visitors with a friendly, professional demeanor, provides information about Club programs, and assists with membership processes. This role helps maintain a secure, clean, and organized entrance, creating a positive first impression, monitors lobby activity to prevent unauthorized access, and coordinates with program staff during member pick-up.
Our Mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as caring, productive, responsible citizens.

  • Assist the Membership Coordinator with accepting and processing member applications accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide information on Club programs to members, parents, visitors, and respond to phone inquiries.

In exchange, BGCTM offers extensive benefits:

  • Plus, part-time employees are eligible for PTO.
  • Pay starts at $14.50 an hour.

This is what your schedule would look like:
  • This role is part-time and offers flexible scheduling to accommodate personal commitments or class schedules.
  • PM Shift: 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Work location: DWR Clubhouse - 2680 East Ninth Street

ALL BGCTM employees have the responsibility to help maintain the safety of our members and staff and ensure an optimal Club experience for all. We have great staff who can teach you skills on the job, but there are some traits that will make you more successful as a Membership Aide.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • You are a fun, energetic, and excited individual.
  • You want to pursue a career in data entry, billing, and accounts receivable.
  • You have a passion for building a better community.
  • You have the ability to communicate and cooperate with children, other staff, and parents.
  • Minimum of 17 years or older

As part of our commitment to child and member safety, there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete.
  • You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional if you have work experience. If you don't have work experience, these references can be any non-family member over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism.
  • You will also be asked to complete a drug screen for any illegal substances, a background check, and a fingerprint check.
