What is a part night?

Part Night jobs are positions that require employees to work during a portion of the nighttime hours, rather than a full overnight shift. These roles may involve working late evening hours or only partway through the night, often to accommodate business needs that extend beyond typical daytime operations. Part Night jobs are common in industries such as hospitality, healthcare, retail, and transportation. They can be ideal for individuals seeking flexible schedules or additional income outside of standard work hours. The specific hours and responsibilities vary depending on the employer and industry.

What are the typical responsibilities and challenges faced by someone working a part night shift?

In a part night shift role, employees often handle essential operational tasks during evening or overnight hours, such as monitoring security, restocking inventory, or providing customer service. Common challenges include adjusting to a non-traditional sleep schedule and maintaining productivity during quieter periods. Team communication is crucial, as part night workers regularly coordinate with both the outgoing day shift and the incoming overnight staff to ensure smooth transitions and continuity in workflow. This role can offer opportunities to develop time management skills and may provide pathways to full-time night positions or team leadership roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part night worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Night Worker, you need reliability, time management, and the ability to work independently, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with scheduling systems, security protocols, or relevant equipment (depending on the industry) is typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for handling late hours and unexpected situations. These skills ensure efficiency, safety, and smooth operations during non-standard working hours.

Job description

Come be a part of our team at the newest upscale hotel near Citi Field in Flushing at Tangram! Renaissance New York Flushing Hotel is the anchor to a 4-phase complex called Tangram, positioned to be the epicenter of Flushing, Queens, and spanning two city blocks. The 208-room hotel sits atop an 8-plex 4DX cinema and is flanked by high-end condominiums with a retail center including nearly 30 Asian style restaurants, beer garden and an expansive 5,000 sq ft fitness center with an Olympic-sized pool. Guestrooms feature a streamlined aesthetic with vibrant details like hand drawn wall coverings in the foyer, plus refrigerators, rain showers, and 55โ€ articulating LCD TVs. VIP guests receive access to the hotel's Club Lounge, serving light snacks and a cozy place to unwind. The hotel in Flushing, Queens, NY offers free shuttle service to La Guardia Airport, and easy access to the 7 train. Prime Met, the hotel's rooftop restaurant, is a fusion of Asian flavor and western steakhouse, and features a whiskey bar and a sake bar. Explore Tangram and be at the center of it all.

With our smooth check-ins, we build an experience that is memorable and unique. With our check-outs, we make transactions feel like part of that same seamless experience. Night Auditors take the initiative to deliver a wide range of services that guide guests through their entire stay. They are empowered to move about their space and do what needs to be done. Whether processing operational needs, addressing guest requests, completing reports, or sharing the highlights of the local area, the Night Auditor knows how to create and maintain the framework for the most memorable and unique guest experience. The Night Auditor has the ability to work with very little supervision, He/she is essentially the third shift MOD and therefore is relied upon heavily for consistent attendance and punctuality. The Night Auditor will need to adjust to a third shift (11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.), which is contrary to a conventional lifestyle.

No matter what position you are in, there are a few things that are critical to success โ€“ creating a safe work place, following company policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality, protecting company assets, upholding quality standards, and ensuring your uniform, personal appearance, and communications are professional. Night Auditors will be on their feet and moving around (stand, sit, or walk for an extended time) and taking a hands-on approach to work (move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance). Doing all these things well (and other reasonable job duties as requested) is critical for Night Auditorsโ€“ to get it right for our guests and our business each and every time.
