Job description

Night Auditor Position

At The Wildbirch Hotel, our Night Auditors serve as the welcoming face of our unique boutique property during the overnight hours. They are responsible for greeting guests, facilitating check-ins, and ensuring each guest enjoys an exceptional stay in Anchorage and for auditing the reservations, guest ledger and financial transactions of the day. The role requires handling reservations, guest inquiries, and managing check-ins/outs in an efficient, warm, and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in late-arriving guests while ensuring all guest information is accurately recorded in the system.
  • Reconcile and balance daily financial transactions, including room charges, payments, and any discrepancies in the accounting system.
  • Process and verify guest payments, manage check-outs for early departing guests, and ensure any outstanding accounts are settled.
  • Perform nightly audits of guest accounts and hotel financial activities, ensuring accuracy across all transactions and preparing reports for management.
  • Provide guests with assistance for late-night requests, including making or modifying reservations and responding to inquiries or concerns.
  • Maintain knowledge of the hotel amenities, room layouts, and the surrounding Anchorage area to assist guests even during overnight hours.
  • Collaborate with security and other departments to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests during the night.
  • Prepare and distribute daily financial and operations reports to the Front Office Manager and other departments.
  • Manage the Front Desk area during the night shift, ensuring it's well-organized and stocked for the next day.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction by addressing any issues that arise during overnight hours promptly and professionally.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a hotel or customer service role, preferably with night auditing or financial reconciliation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel management systems (Room Master and OPERA Cloud experience is a plus).
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in reading and responding in English (additional languages are a plus).
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, particularly in handling guest requests or emergencies during overnight hours.
  • Detail-oriented with strong numerical and problem-solving skills, able to reconcile accounts and spot discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with web-based tools.
  • Ability to work independently during the night shift and collaborate with other departments as necessary.

Physical & Availability Requirements:

  • This role requires standing for long periods and occasional lifting of light materials.
