Job description

Part Protection Area Lead

Company:

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking a Part Protection Area Lead to join the Site Fulfillment Support team located in North Charleston, South Carolina on Shift 3.

The Team Lead will be performing tasks in the following areas; pre-shift planning, crew meetings, team status updates, labor loss, production control, training, process improvement and Lean/BPS (Boeing Production System). The candidate must maintain all necessary certifications to perform the job.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies and aircraft systems, equipment and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools

  • Builds effective resource plans by coordinating with peer team leads to mitigate and manage schedule conflicts

  • Identifies and communicates risks to First Line Leader. Updates and communicates BPS metrics.

  • Identifies KPI improvement actions

  • Able to work pre and post shift overtime as required to assess status of build, assign daily work, cover for labor loss, in times of surge and rework

  • Leads team in daily safety check-in

  • Monitors and reports daily progress to plan

  • Works with support organizations and First Line Leader to mitigate performance risk

  • Documents and communicates shift turnover

  • Establishes overtime requirements and staffing

  • Responsible to monitor and control FOD, 5S and Tools.

  • Utilizes Rapid Problem Solving (RPS) and coordinates with Line Side Control Center (LSCC) to address issues

  • Creates standardized work instructions

  • Support teammates to improve their job performance including identifying training.

  • Responsible for BPS process improvements

  • Leads Kamishibai audits and Gemba walks

  • Exhibits Boeing Behaviors

  • Must maintain all necessary certifications to perform the job

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in Aerospace, Fabrication, or Manufacturing

  • 3+ years of experience with operations process involving the 787 airplane program

  • 3+ years of experience using REDARS, engineering documents

  • 3+ years of experience using Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • 3+ years of experience using lean manufacturing principles

  • 3+ years of experience in velocity

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift

  • Ability to walk, stand, climb and descend stairs, bend and lift items, package materials and unload materials from containers frequently throughout the shift

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of Warehouse experience packaging and crating

  • 3+ years of experience in Inventory Management

  • 3+ years of leadership experience
