Position Overview:
Prudent Engineering is seeking a ROW Survey Technician to join our growing Right-of-Way team. In this role, you will support boundary analysis, property-line determination, and the preparation of ROW and acquisition mapping for transportation and public infrastructure projects throughout New York State.
What you'll do:

  • Perform deed, record, and survey research to support ROW and property-line determinations.
  • Review and interpret deeds, filed maps, title reports, appropriation maps, highway records, and other source documents.
  • Assist with the preparation and quality review of ROW maps, acquisition maps, boundary exhibits, and related deliverables.
  • Compile, reconcile, and analyze field survey data and record information for transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with field crews, mapping staff, licensed land surveyors, and project managers to resolve boundary and mapping questions.
  • Prepare work in accordance with applicable client requirements and New York State agency standards, including NYSDOT, NYSTA, the New York State Canal Corporation, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

The requirements we seek:

  • Experience in land surveying, boundary analysis, deed research, or ROW mapping.
  • Working knowledge of metes-and-bounds descriptions, title documents, and property records.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize and reconcile information from multiple sources.
  • Proficiency with Carlson, CAD or civil design software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate across disciplines, and manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Occasional travel or field verification may be required, if applicable

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience preparing or reviewing ROW mapping for NYSDOT or another New York public agency.

Familiarity with transportation survey deliverables and agency-specific mapping standards.
