Job description

Maintenance Worker – Recreation and Parks

$50,000

The City of Falls Church, VA is recruiting for a Maintenance Worker in the Recreation and Parks Department.  This is full-time work, including setting up and breaking down of daily classes and events, maintaining the community center to include general daily custodial duties; perform scheduled routine maintenance to include carpet cleaning, floor waxing, etc.  This position will also assist Park crews during snow removal and special events.

Requirements:

  • Must report to work in and wear steel-toed safety shoes of an acceptable standard at all times on the job, effective first scheduled workday
  • Must be available to work weekends and overtime as well as respond to emergency situations
  • Experience in maintenance work preferred, especially in the areas outlined above
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods under all weather conditions, to include extremely hot summer weather as well as perform snow and ice removal during winter.
  • Valid Driver’s License in state of residency with a good driving record
  • Satisfactory pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check

Hours:  12 PM to 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with ability to work weekends, holidays and special events. Adjusted schedule select evenings to cover concerts in the park and movies in the park.

Salary or Salary & Benefits:  $50,000 annually plus a $200 safety shoe allowance.  In addition, the City offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, pension plan, deferred compensation plan, flexible spending account, life and long-term disability insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, credit union membership, free parking, and more.
