40 hours per week
May 11, 2026 - August 21, 2026
Under direction of the Parks Superintendent, the Golf Superintendent and the Parks Foreman, performs semi-skilled and annual labor in the maintenance of town parks and open space areas. Must have the ability to work cooperatively with other crew members, as well as without direct supervision. Performs general maintenance relating to time of year.
Position Description and Job Functions
  1. Operates hand and riding mowers to cut playing fields, park areas or golf course.
  2. Operates string trimmers for weedwacking.
  3. Performs manual labor in tasks such as field lining, weeding, raking, and fence repair.
  4. Assists in tree planting and facility repairs.
  5. Performs routine tasks such as emptying garbage cans, picking up litter, and checking parks equipment for safety hazards.
  6. Sees that all equipment is cleaned and returned to proper location after use.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  1. Ability to carry out instructions given in written or verbal form.
  2. Aptitude to learn skills to operate equipment.
  3. Ability to lift objects and/or carry objects weighing from 25 to 50 pounds.

Conditions and Qualifications
Connecticut motor vehicle operator's license is required with at least 6 months driving experience.
There are no benefits associated with this position.
