Description The City & Borough of Juneau, Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a Park Maintenance Worker to Join the team. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for people who share our enthusiasm for public service by providing safe, clean and fun public spaces for recreation. Our most successful park maintenance workers have a unique combination of skills and traits including good customer service, an eye for detail and an ability to follow direction and work independently.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION This position works from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM 5 days a week. We have staff on 7 days a week so your weekend may not fall on Saturday and Sunday. The position may start at the Dimond Park shop in the valley or the Douglas shop at Savikko park.

Typical Responsibilities A Park Maintenance workers tasks vary greatly from day to day. Some days you may work on projects as part of a team and other days you may be given a list of tasks to complete independently. DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Under the immediate supervision of a Crew Leader, Park Maintenance Workers, perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work in the cleaning, upkeep and maintenance of CBJ parks, playgrounds, sports fields, courts and recreational areas.

If selected for this position you will: Clean parks, playgrounds and shelters for use by the public, Prepare and maintain sports fields with a variety of vehicles, equipment and hand tools to ensure a safe, playable surface for youth and adult sports, Perform park and playground inspections and maintenance with a variety of hand and power tools including pressure washers, skill saws, chainsaws, rakes and shovels, Operate a variety of small tractors, pickup trucks and flatbed dump trucks, Clean and disinfect restrooms.
