Mutuel Clerk - Part Time
Reporting to the Mutuel Manager, Mutuel Clerks/Teller provide customer services to external and internal guests. Essential functions include consistently demonstrating superior customer service skills, maintaining a positive attitude, and utilizing smiles and frequent eye contact to project warmth and friendliness. They create an atmosphere of luck and celebrate customer wins, are ready to serve, and well informed of daily facility hours of operation, promotional programs, and other relevant guest information. They build relationships by greeting guests with a warm, friendly verbal greeting, anticipate guest needs, and provide fast, flawless service. They execute all service programs to assure prioritization of service to very best guests, promote JACK Club programs and registration and membership, and provide a warm farewell and thanks guests for visiting. They cash and sell bet tickets to the public, provide good public relations in the form of friendly, courteous, responsive, and accurate assistance during all customer service transactions, and provide educational assistance to new patrons. They ensure compliance with federal currency transaction reporting requirements and perform other duties as assigned. They promote outstanding customer relations, ensure compliance with Ohio Racing Commission regulations and other gaming regulations as required, and ensure adherence to departmental/company policies and procedures. They implement departmental internal controls and security.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to work independently, sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time, maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways or escalator, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, and kneel. They respond to visual and aural cues, have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment, and tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises, and bright lights. They must be able to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed, manage several projects simultaneously, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives. They must be able to speak distinctly and persuasively.
Education and experience include very strong customer relations skills, a solid understanding of the pari-mutuel customer's motivations and expectations, previous pari-mutuel mutual clerk experience preferred, fluency on Microsoft Office software products, and the ability to work in a smoke-filled environment and sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Required Certification/License: Must be able to obtain an Ohio Racing Commission license.
