To thrive as a Parent Aware Coach, you need a background in early childhood education, knowledge of child development, and experience working with childcare providers or families. Familiarity with assessment tools, coaching frameworks, and data tracking systems is typically required, along with relevant certifications such as a bachelor's degree in early childhood or related fields. Excellent communication, active listening, and relationship-building skills are vital for supporting and guiding providers through quality improvement processes. What is a Parent Aware rating and what does a Parent Aware rater do?

Parent Aware is Minnesota’s Quality Rating and Improvement System for early childhood programs. A Parent Aware rater evaluates early learning and child care programs based on a set of standards that measure how well the program prepares children for school. Programs that participate receive a rating from one to four stars, helping families make informed choices. The process supports continuous quality improvement in early childhood education.
