Job description

We have a job opening and exciting opportunity for a Full Time Utility Clerk in our Riverside, CAlocation. The purpose of a Utility Clerk is to act as a floater in the various warehouse departments. The employee will be responsible for understanding the job duties and being able to work in any of the warehouse departments, as needed. They will help with filling in as departments are short staffed or assisting with special projects, as needed.
This position will have a heavy focus on the Parcel Post functions (using the new shipping system, processing shipments, learning the various hazardous and ORMD restrictions for shipment), Invoicing (using all functions of the VAI order manager platform), Returns department functions (processing returns and learning the various systems to do returns, and vendor returns) , and inter-warehouse processing functions (including VAI functions to process, print, and pick transfers as well as getting the transfers ready and completed for shipment on both CHS trucks and motor freight)
Essential Functions:
Selected employees will be trained to actively participate in the following processes in the various departments:
  • Receiving -Duties will include breaking down freight; unloading containers; checking in freight with both RF devices and via paper receipts; and reconciling packing slips to receipts.
  • Stocking - Stocking of all inbound bulk product to the proper shelving areas and /or transfer areas using RF devices directing the put away of product.
  • Bulk shipping - Utilizing all voice pick features in the bulk picking process; picking accurately, with average productivity; constructively build outbound shipments on pallets; operate double length end rider equipment.
  • Low Unit of Measure shipping - Picking of all variables of the LUM picking process utilizing all voice pick features including specific customer instructions; picking accurately; with an average productivity; and proper sorting of customer PAR units totes per customer instructions.
  • Special tasks - Ultimately, will be trained in various elements of computer functions that move warehouse operations - including: Returns (Customer/Vendor); Order Management; Transfer Management; Receiving Management, Inventory Management and other assignments as needed. Special tasks could also include, preparation and delivery of capital equipment as well as building and grounds maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You will Need to be Successful:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous warehouse/distribution experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform all physical motions typical of the various warehouse positions, including bending, reaching, stretching, walking, pushing, stand or walk for long periods for entire shift often over 8hrs/shift, and lifting as much as 60lbs (or more) push/pull carts weighing 100lbs or more repeatedly throughout the shift. With or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and willing to with others in the department without issues.
  • Able to work with minimum supervisory supervision.
  • Should be comfortable and understand, operating computer directed functions.
  • Able to work in a variety of departments day to day, with some variance of start times.
  • Confidently operate (or willing to learn) all power equipment in each of the given work areas (Double length end riders, Counter balance trucks, Reach trucks, and Stock picker.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug screening.
