QA Automation Engineer – Level 2

This role is a mid-level position focused on supporting enterprise QA initiatives, developing automation frameworks, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions across complex enterprise applications. This role is ideal for a QA professional with strong technical skills, hands‑on experience in both manual and automation testing, and an interest in working on large‑scale Payroll and USPS‑related systems. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure software quality, regulatory compliance, and delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to design comprehensive test strategies, develop detailed test scenarios and test cases, and ensure complete test coverage for new features, enhancements, and defect fixes.
  • Execute manual functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing to validate software quality and ensure applications meet business and technical requirements.
  • Perform API testing using tools such as Postman to validate system integrations and business workflows across enterprise applications.
  • Validate application data using SQL queries and other data analysis techniques to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Identify, document, track, and retest software defects, working closely with developers to verify resolutions and support timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, product owners, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify edge cases, and improve overall software quality.
  • Review business and technical documentation to ensure requirements are complete, testable, and accurately reflected in test coverage.
  • Create, maintain, and organize QA artifacts, including test plans, test cases, test execution results, defect reports, and other testing documentation.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and project status meetings while communicating testing progress, risks, and issues to project leadership.
  • Identify testing risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and proactively communicate quality concerns to project management and client stakeholders.
  • Support release validation and production readiness activities to ensure successful software deployments.
  • Recommend improvements to testing processes, test coverage, and quality assurance practices to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Work with structured and semi‑structured data formats, including SQL result sets, XML, JSON, flat files, and other enterprise data sources to support testing activities.
  • Provide support for additional QA‑related activities and documentation as needed, including test reports, release documentation, and knowledge transfer materials.
Qualifications Required
  • 7-+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including analyzing business and technical requirements, developing test strategies, writing detailed test cases, executing manual testing, and validating software quality.
  • Experience performing manual functional, regression, integration, and system testing across enterprise applications.
  • Experience conducting API testing using tools such as Postman or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of SQL queries for data validation, troubleshooting, and testing enterprise applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and communicate software defects and business process issues.
  • Experience collaborating with developers, business analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document test cases, defects, test results, and project status.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently with minimal day‑to‑day supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel (including PivotTables), Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with performance or security testing is a plus.
  • ISTQB or other QA‑related certifications are a plus.
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks or AI‑assisted testing tools is a plus but not required.
