In Georgia, paraprofessionals typically earn an average hourly wage of around $12 to $15, depending on experience, education, and school district. Annual salaries generally range from approximately $20,000 to $30,000. Certification and additional skills can influence earning potential.

How do paraprofessionals typically collaborate with teachers and other educational staff during the school day?

Paraprofessionals work closely with teachers by supporting classroom instruction, assisting with lesson preparation, and providing individualized attention to students who need extra help. They often participate in team meetings, communicate regularly with teachers about student progress, and help manage classroom behavior. Collaboration also extends to working with specialists such as speech therapists or counselors to ensure students’ unique needs are met. This teamwork fosters a supportive environment and helps paraprofessionals develop valuable skills for career advancement.

What does a paraprofessional actually do?

A paraprofessional assists teachers in the classroom by supporting students with learning, behavior, or physical needs. They may help with instructional tasks, supervise students, and prepare materials, often working under the supervision of licensed teachers and sometimes requiring specific training or certifications.

What is the highest paid paraprofessional?

The highest paid paraprofessionals are typically those with specialized skills or certifications, such as behavior intervention specialists or those working in private schools or specialized programs. Salaries can vary by location and experience but generally range from $30,000 to $50,000 annually, with some positions exceeding this in certain districts or states. Advanced certifications and additional responsibilities often lead to higher pay.

What are paraprofessionals?

Paraprofessionals are educational workers who assist teachers and other licensed professionals in the classroom, often providing support to students with special needs. To thrive as a Paraprofessional, you need a solid understanding of educational support practices, basic instructional techniques, and typically a high school diploma or associate’s degree. Familiarity with classroom technology, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and learning management systems is often required.
