Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA
Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Cardiac Catheterization Lab
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Compensation: USD 58,000 – 65,000 (base salary)


Job Summary

The Cardiac Cath Radiologic Technologist performs a variety of technical tasks related to operating radiographic/x‑ray equipment and producing high‑quality diagnostic images in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. This role supports all invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cath Lab and/or Special Procedures/Electrophysiology Lab as part of a multidisciplinary team including physicians, registered nurses, and cardiovascular technologists.


Key Responsibilities
  • Operate radiographic/x‑ray equipment to obtain high‑quality images for all diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.

  • Adjust imaging equipment to achieve proper radiographic exposure in accordance with radiation safety standards and ALARA principles.

  • Position patients accurately for required anatomical views, using immobilization and protective equipment as needed.

  • Process and verify images, ensuring they are correctly labeled, documented, and available for interpretation.

  • Perform daily checks to confirm that all procedure images are properly transmitted and archived in the imaging system.

  • Function as a scrub technologist and table panner during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.

  • Function as a monitoring technologist during procedures, assisting with hemodynamic monitoring and documentation as required by unit practice.

  • Rotate on‑call duties for emergency and add‑on procedures outside regular operating hours.

  • Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and radiation safety practices at all times.

  • Follow downtime procedures and all departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.

  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the organization’s mission, values, and core service standards.

  • Participate in continuing education, in‑services, and professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical skills.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support safe, efficient Cath Lab operations.


Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or related imaging program (institutional requirement not explicitly stated but typically expected).

  • Current state licensure and/or registration as a Radiologic Technologist, as required by Illinois and hospital policy.
