What is a Parallax job?

A Parallax job likely refers to a role involving the Parallax company or a position related to parallax design and animation in web development. Parallax is a scrolling technique used in websites to create a sense of depth by moving background and foreground elements at different speeds. Jobs in this field may include UI/UX designers, front-end developers, or motion graphics specialists who implement this effect. If referring to the company Parallax, the job could involve software development, project management, or business operations. Always check the specific job description for details.

Industry UsageWebsites, apps, interactive mediaCommercial videos, advertisements, digital content

Parallax and Motion Designer roles often overlap in animation and digital media. Parallax typically focuses on creating depth effects in web and app interfaces, requiring skills in animation and coding. Motion Designers work across various media, including videos and commercials, emphasizing animation and visual storytelling. While both roles involve animation, Parallax specialists usually work more on interactive digital projects, whereas Motion Designers have a broader scope in multimedia production.

What are common challenges faced by parallax designers in web development projects?

Parallax designers often encounter challenges in ensuring smooth scrolling performance and cross-browser compatibility, as parallax effects can be resource-intensive and may not function uniformly across all devices. Collaborating closely with developers and UX teams is essential to balance visual appeal with usability and accessibility standards. Additionally, adapting parallax features for mobile responsiveness and optimizing load times are key considerations to deliver an engaging yet efficient user experience.

Job description

ABOUT PARALLAX

Parallax is building something that doesn't exist yet: a modern communications engine that treats

persuasion like infrastructure. We are a high-velocity content operation backed by committed investors,

leading advocacy organizations, and a passionate team that has run some of the largest political media

operations in history. We produce content at campaign scale - hundreds of videos, millions of

impressions, rapid-response storytelling across every platform. We do this in service of fixing American

democracy through the actionable lever of election reform.

We are focused on solving the Primary Problem. Closed party primaries disenfranchise millions of voters

and disincentivize our leaders from solving problems. Open, all-candidate primaries increase

participation, improve representation, and dampen polarization. We are here to win open primaries on

the state level in order to enfranchise millions of voters and liberate dozens of members of Congress.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is an outcomes-based contractor engagement. Success is measured by finished video, not time on

site:

  • End-to-end finished videos. Complete short- and mid-form videos delivered from raw concept to
  • publish-ready export, with the full lifecycle owned by the contractor.
  • Broadcast-quality field capture. Field interviews, b-roll packages, and verite sequences captured to broadcast-quality standards in run-and-gun conditions, with proper lighting, audio, and coverage.
  • 24-48 hour turnaround. Polished cuts delivered within 24-48 hours of shoot wrap, edited to platform spec (vertical, horizontal, square) for the assigned destination.
  • Story-driven edits. Finished videos that demonstrably find and deliver a narrative - not just sequenced footage. The cut sells the emotion, builds tension, and lands the point.
  • Strike Team field deployments. Deployments to designated states as needed, delivering a definedpackage of finished content per deployment.
  • Self-managed kit and media. Own gear maintained and ready, media managed and backed up, organized project files delivered with every cut.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

You've spent 3-10 years behind a camera and in an edit bay. You're the person who can't stop seeing

shots in everyday life - and you can turn that instinct into finished work at speed.

  • You shoot and edit. Genuinely strong at both - field instinct and edit-bay craft live in the same person.
  • You're fast without being sloppy. Speed is a feature of your work, not a compromise. Your portfolio shows strong prioritization and a clear sense of when 'done' beats 'perfect.'
  • You understand social platforms. You know why a TikTok cut is different from a YouTube cut. You think in hooks, retention curves, and scroll-stopping moments.
  • You operate independently. Brief-to-delivery ownership, end-to-end.
  • You care about the mission. You want your work to matter beyond view counts. Election reform might not be your existing beat, but you understand why narrative shapes democracy.

Benefits

WHY THIS GIG

  • Impact you can see. Your footage will reach millions. Your edits will shape how Americans understand election reform. This isn't corporate video - this is content that moves people.
  • Creative latitude. We engage filmmakers, not button-pushers. Real input on story, style, and approach within a system that actually ships.
  • A team that gets it. No explaining why the B-roll matters. No fighting for the cut you believe in. The team speaks your language.
  • It's still early. You're not maintaining someone else's look - you're helping define it.

COMPENSATION

$7,000 / month retainer paid monthly. Contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, and

business expenses. No employee benefits provided.

HOW TO APPLY

Send a short note + portfolio or relevant work samples through the application form. If you're the right

person for this role, you'll hear from us within a week.
