The Opportunity:
The Paralegal position is an excellent position for a motivated individual looking for an opportunity to grow within CACI. In this role, you will work collaboratively with teams of USAO attorneys to handle a wide variety of litigation support tasks from the basics (preparing and filing documents with courts and organizing, tracking and archiving legal documents) to the more complex tasks (redacting and protecting privilege information, conducting factual and legal research, assisting in witness interviews, depositions and trial preparation by preparing binders, indexing discovery, and preparing evidentiary exhibits, and providing in-court room assistance).
Responsibilities:
Assist the Financial Litigation Unit (FLU) and other sections as needed.
• Review and analyze case materials
• Preparing form letters and mailings
• Opening and Closing of case files
• Assist in discovery production (would involve scanning, labeling, and copying them on to discs)
• Assemble exhibits, affidavits and other legal documents, preparing binders of all electronic motions, affidavits and orders.
• Assemble and organize files and records material for disposition or transfer to records depository
• Maintain calendar of assigned active cases
• Track filing, hearings and trial dates, and schedule conference and interviews
• Review and produce a variety of written documents both legal and non-legal using a range of office software applications
The candidate will be asked to assist with other administrative tasks such as
photocopying, delivering items & filing.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Requires paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
  • One year of legal training or legal experience or at least two years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate.
  • Additionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required; trial experience very helpful. Automated litigation support experience valued.
  • Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Role also requires basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
  • DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required).

Pay Range:
This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACI's government contract for the work location.
