Compensation
The salary for this role is $20.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New Jersey. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
About the Role
We currently have an opportunity for a Legal/Paralegal Intern to join our team in our East Brunswick, NJ office. In this role, you will support the legal team by performing a variety of administrative and operational tasks. Responsibilities will include assisting with record-keeping, scanning and filing across multiple systems and platforms, and providing backup support to team members, all while handling legal and confidential information with discretion. This position involves working with internal staff across multiple offices and will also require communication with external vendors and law firms.
This is an on-site, part-time internship based in East Brunswick, New Jersey, requiring approximately 10-20 hours per week. Hours are flexible and can be scheduled around summer coursework, but must fall within core business hours of 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Availability on Tuesdays through Thursdays is preferred.
Responsibilities
What you wil do
  • Completes a diverse and sometimes complex array of filing, adhering to multiple filing systems (including, but not limited to, hard copy filing, updating electronic databases and utilizing various tools/platforms such as document management systems and SharePoint)
  • Assists Legal Administrative Assistant in the review, organization and processing of a large volume of legal and vendor invoices; ability to quickly learn and adapt a new web-based billing system a plus
  • May assist Senior Corporate Paralegal with fielding internal requests for certain information and aggregating or generating information summaries; ability to field and prioritize requests using proper judgment
  • Upkeep of corporate books and legal files
  • Manages mail (USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc), including distributing incoming mail/packages, date stamp incoming documents, and prepare outgoing certified mail/packages
  • May assist with timesheets and expense reports
  • May assist in arranging conference calls
  • May complete various ad hoc projects for the legal or compliance teams
  • May work with, field or otherwise submit land records for recording
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

  • Are currently pursuing a Bachelor's or higher-level degree (preferred)
  • Are currently pursuing or have completed a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program (a plus)
  • Are punctual and reliable

  • Have the ability to complete tasks with accuracy and strong attention to detail at all times
  • Have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive and/or speculative information
  • Have the ability to interact in a professional, friendly, and client-focused manner with all levels of staff across multiple offices
  • Have the ability to complete tasks within a culture of compliance, adhering to corporate and compliance policies and directives
  • Have the ability to work independently
  • Have the ability to collaborate with a team of busy professionals who may travel, work from job sites, satellite offices, or other company locations, or otherwise work and communicate remotely
  • Have proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Have experience using SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and DocuSign (a plus)
