Job description

This position is responsible for patient check-in and check-out functions utilizing EPIC. Assists patients as they present for scheduled appointments. Verifies patient demographics, collect co-payments, generates and provides receipts, has patients complete and sign all necessary paperwork. Assists physicians and nurses on each floor by processing appropriate paperwork for scheduled appointments. Provide excellent customer service to all of our patients & co-workers.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs patient check-in and check-out processes in EPIC, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Verifies patient demographics and insurance information, collects co-payments, and provides receipts for services. 
  • Screens scheduled patients for required pre-certifications, authorizations, and referrals, educating them on financial policies as needed. 
  • Assists patients upon arrival by answering questions, ensuring paperwork is completed, and directing them to appropriate clinical areas. 
  • Supports physicians and nurses by processing required appointment paperwork and facilitating smooth patient flow. 
  • Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls from patients, providers, internal departments, and external partners for timely communication.
  • Completes patient scheduling tasks, ensuring appointments are arranged in accordance with clinical and operational needs.
  • Documents all relevant patient information in EPIC to support clear communication within the clinical team. 
  • Reconciles daily payments, balances the cash drawer, and ensures proper closure of financial activities at the end of each shift. 
  • Maintains a positive patient experience by upholding safety protocols, following emergency procedures, and providing excellent customer service at all times.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent 
  • Prior experience in a healthcare, medical office, clinic, or customer-facing administrative environment, performing front desk or patient service duties.
