Job description

TITLE: Packer 

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Well established paper packaging manufacturer in the Waukegan/North Chicago area is seeking Packers to pack printed paper bags and sheets from the machines into cardboard cartons according to job specifications.

  • First and second shift hours: 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm. Monday – Friday.
  • Paid lunch.
  • Temp to hire 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic math adding and subtracting required.
  • Basic reading and writing skills required.
  • Some lifting required up to 25 pounds on occasion.
  • Fast paced environment must be able to keep up with machines.
  • Must be able to stand for entire shift.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read the job pockets for cartons and labeling.
  • Pack bags into cartons per the job instructions.
  • Inspect the bags while packing for defects.
  • Keep up with the machine speeds.
  • Keep accurate counts of bags per carton.
  • Seal full cartons using tape gun and place on skid.
  • Keep the work area clean.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

  • Must adhere to all safety regulations, including the use of PPE.
  • Fast-paced production floor with exposure to noise.

TRAINING:

  • Must complete ongoing training as required.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Must be able to stand for shift work.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds.
