Position Summary

The Vice President, Division is responsible for the overall operations of the paper division and the gypsum technical services group. This leader will drive strategic initiatives to ensure the long-term viability of the business, focusing on operational excellence, product innovation, and talent development. The role includes direct responsibility for strategic planning, capital projects, staffing key management positions, and product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction and strategic planning for division operations.
  • Lead paper mill operations,
  • Oversee technical services, and R&D innovation for gypsum and acoustic products.
  • Oversee facility process and product improvement initiatives.
  • Negotiate, review, and approve supply contracts for key vendors.
  • Monitor plant operating requirements, safety, and quality performance.
  • Prepare and present budgets; develop operational strategies to meet objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, MSHA, EPA).
  • Represent the company in the local community and with government agencies.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance, development, and discipline of employees.
  • Drive continuous improvement and reliability in manufacturing operations.
  • Align technical and operational strategies with corporate objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Paper Science preferred); advanced degree (MBA or M.S.) a plus.
  • 10-15+ years in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in leadership roles; paper or gypsum industry experience preferred.
  • 8-10 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially paper-making and fiber technology.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive continuous improvement, and manage budgets.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills; able to present to executives, boards, and public groups.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment and personal computers.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to travel up to 15%, including internationally
