Job description

Prisma Nashville is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Lead / Cutter Operator to operate and oversee production on a guillotine paper cutter in a fast-paced commercial printing environment. This role is responsible for precise cutting of printed materials, leading second-shift operations, and ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical cutting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to guide and support a small team during second-shift operations.

Key Responsibilities

Cutter Operation

  • Set up and operate a guillotine cutter 

  • Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and cut sheets
  • Perform precise trimming, cutting, and stacking of paper and printed materials
  • Ensure finished pieces meet quality and dimensional specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance, blade changes, and minor troubleshooting

Lead Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead operator for 2nd shift operations

  • Assign work, coordinate job flow, and monitor production schedules
  • Train, mentor, and support 2nd shift team members as needed

  • Serve as point of contact for supervisors during second shift
  • Ensure safety procedures and company policies are followed

Quality & Safety

  • Inspect work for accuracy and quality throughout production
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Follow all OSHA and equipment safety guidelines
  • 3+ years experience operating a guillotine cutter in a commercial printing environment
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of paper types, grain direction, and finishing processes
  • Ability to read job tickets and work independently
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, twist and lift up to 50 lbs

  • Reliable attendance and ability to work 2nd shift consistently

Preferred Experience

  • Background in bindery or finishing departments
  • Experience with high-volume or quick-turn print environments
  • Familiarity with digital and offset print workflows
