Job description

Are you detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and looking to play a vital role in a fast-paced production environment? We are seeking a reliable Bindery Operator / Paper Cutter to join our team.

In this role, you will be the backbone of our prepress workflow, precisely cutting and preparing paper materials to keep our pressroom running smoothly. If you thrive in a team environment, take pride in high-quality workmanship, and prioritize workplace safety, we want to hear from you!

Pay: $21.00/Hr. – $27.40/Hr. On Demand Pay available (access a portion of your earned pay before pay day)

Shift: Sunday – Wednesday 7am-7pm

Location: Hagerstown MD

Job Responsibilities:

  • Precision Operation: Set up and operate cutting machinery safely and efficiently, strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Workflow Support: Accurately cut and deliver paper to the pressroom in alignment with production schedules to ensure company goals are met.
  • Quality Control: Regularly inspect materials leaving the department to ensure they meet our strict quality standards.
  • Equipment Care: Perform basic preventative maintenance (PMs) and routine troubleshooting on machinery to keep operations running smoothly.

 

  • Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean, organized workspace and actively promote a culture of safety by adhering to all company policies.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist team members in the bindery department and handle other duties as assigned to support overall production success.

What You Bring:

  • Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, high attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Basic Math & Measurement: Ability to read and understand written work orders, read a ruler accurately, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience operating industrial cutting equipment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with strong mechanical skills.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Strength & Stamina: Ability to stand for 12-hour shifts and regularly lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Material Handling: Ability to push/move boxes and skids of paper weighing up to 1,100 lbs. using a manual pallet jack
  • Environment: Comfortable working in varying plant conditions. Position involves potential exposure to controlled, non-toxic chemical vapors or mists typical of a printing environment.
