Job Summary
The HEART Pantry Assistant supports the daily operations of the campus food pantry by helping students access food and necessities in a welcoming, respectful, and confidential environment. Responsibilities include stocking and organizing inventory, assisting with food distribution, maintaining records, monitoring supplies, supporting outreach efforts, and providing excellent customer service to students. The assistant also helps ensure the pantry remains clean, organized, and compliant with food safety guidelines while contributing to the pantry's mission of reducing food insecurity and promoting student success.
The HEART Assistant reports to the Associate Dean of Student Success Services
Job Duties:
  • Oversee the Heart food pantry and Golphin Heart Express food stations - inventory, organizing, stocking, shopping.
  • Manage online HEART orders and prepare them for delivery to regional campuses.
  • Assist in development and implementation of donation drives and partnerships both within the college and in the community.
  • Assist with donation pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Assist with community resource referrals for students seeking additional resources to meet their needs.
  • Greet and assist students with accessing pantry services in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Manage inventory counts and maintain accurate records of food distribution and pantry usage.
  • Ensure food items are stored properly and follow applicable food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming pantry environment.
  • Assist with creating and preparing informational materials and marketing strategies to promote services and present to students and faculty.
  • Assist with Student Success Hub events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma Required, Associate Degree Preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
• One year related experience.
Additional Skills Requested:
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong Customer Service Skills.
• Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software are desired.
• Proficiency with Excel desired.
• Must be physically able to lift heavy items, i.e. boxes of fruit, groceries, etc.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a car/van.
