Job description

Job Summary

We're looking for an LH Panel Operator to operate Vacuum Overlay Coating equipment and support the coating of aerospace components in a production environment. In this role, you'll monitor coating processes, set up equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality and production requirements.

Shift: 4th shift, Friday-Sunday 7:00am-7:00pm

Union: This position is represented by Local 475.

Starting Rate: $31.55/hr

Training: New hires must be available to train on 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00a-3:00p for a minimum of 90 days before transitioning to their regularly assigned shift.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operate Vacuum Overlay Coating equipment in accordance with established specifications, quality requirements, and production schedules.
  • Monitor coating parameters and programs to ensure compliance with process requirements.
  • Set up charging chambers, tooling, and equipment for production runs.
  • Operate coating equipment in both manual and automatic modes.
  • Monitor and maintain vacuum, water, air, and gas systems that support coating operations.
  • Perform routine turn-around maintenance and equipment inspections.
  • Make minor E.B. gun adjustments based on coating chemistry and weight gain requirements.
  • Read and follow work instructions, process documentation, and operating procedures.
  • Ensure product quality standards are met while maintaining production targets.
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions.
  • Ability to operate Vacuum Overlay Coating equipment and understand associated systems and controls.
  • Working knowledge of control panels, coating programs, process parameters, tooling requirements, and part specifications.
  • Understanding of vacuum, water, air, and gas systems used in coating operations.
  • Ability to set up charging chambers and prepare equipment for production.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance activities.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and comply with all PPE requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

 

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience operating vacuum coating, thermal processing, or other industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working in aerospace, metals processing, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience performing preventative or routine equipment maintenance.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching throughout the workday.
  • Regular lifting and movement of materials up to 30 pounds.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all safety requirements.
