A panel wirer is an electrician that uses blueprints for the assembly and modification of electrical control panels and machinery, often in a manufacturing setting. Your responsibilities include inspecting and reworking panels as needed, examining and testing control products, standard panels, drives, motors, wire, systems, and more. You follow all relevant electrical codes and the most up-to-date best practices while complying with safety laws. Other duties include troubleshooting problems, soldering and de-soldering circuits, and identifying defective units. In some positions, you make cutouts in enclosures, pull wires, layout panels to print, drill holes, mount and wire components based on blueprints and specifications of projects.
