Work EnvironmentManufacturing plants, assembly linesManufacturing facilities, assembly lines
Industry UsageElectronics, control panels, industrial equipmentElectronics, wiring, circuit boards
Job FocusAssembling panels with components and wiringWiring and assembling electrical components

Panel Assemblers primarily focus on constructing entire control panels and enclosures, while Electrical Assemblers concentrate on wiring and assembling individual electrical components. Both roles require similar skills and work environments, but their scope of work differs in complexity and focus.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a panel assembler?

To thrive as a Panel Assembler, you need strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings or blueprints, often supported by a high school diploma or technical certification. Familiarity with hand and power tools, soldering equipment, and sometimes programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is typically required. Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills help you collaborate effectively and adapt to production demands. These skills ensure precise assembly, minimize errors, and support efficient manufacturing processes.

What is panel assembly?

Panel assembly is the process of constructing and wiring electrical control panels or enclosures that house various electrical components, such as switches, circuit breakers, relays, and wiring. Assemblers follow technical drawings and schematics to correctly place and connect each component. The finished panels are used to control and distribute electrical power in industrial, commercial, or residential settings. Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are crucial in this role.

What are some common challenges faced in panel assembly roles, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in panel assembly is ensuring accuracy and consistency when wiring and connecting various components, as even small errors can affect the panel's performance. Assembling complex panels may also involve interpreting detailed schematics, which requires strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. To address these challenges, many employers provide thorough training, encourage teamwork, and implement quality control checks throughout the assembly process. Leveraging these resources and maintaining open communication with team members can help panel assemblers maintain high standards and resolve issues efficiently.

TBest Services Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Kitting Specialist / Kits Task Organizer to support one of our clients in the electro-mechanical and industrial manufacturing industry.
This role is responsible for preparing complete, accurate build-ready kits by collecting, organizing, counting, and packaging all required parts, hardware, components, and documentation for assembly builds. Instead of assemblers searching for materials, the Kitting Specialist ensures everything is verified, organized, and ready before production begins.
This position plays an important role in improving production flow, reducing errors, supporting inventory accuracy, minimizing delays, and maintaining manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Pick and organize parts according to Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Verify part numbers, quantities, and revisions for accuracy
  • Count, package, and organize fasteners, hardware, wiring, connectors, PCBs, and sub-components
  • Prepare consumables such as labels, heat shrink, terminals, zip ties, and related materials
  • Include all required documentation, including work instructions, revision sheets, diagrams, and build documents
  • Stage kits in designated production areas for assembly teams
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Inventory, and Assembly teams
  • Perform inventory checks and report shortages, discrepancies, or missing materials
  • Maintain clean, organized kitting and staging areas
  • Support ERP system accuracy when pulling, issuing, or tracking materials
  • Help reduce production delays caused by missing, incorrect, or incomplete parts
  • Industries & Build Types Supported
  • Electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Assemble-to-order ATO builds
  • Control panel builds
  • Wiring harness assembly
  • PCB and box builds
  • Industrial mechanical assemblies

Required Qualifications
  • 1+ year of warehouse, kitting, material handling, inventory, or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs, work instructions, and basic production documents
  • Strong attention to detail and counting accuracy
  • Basic computer skills
  • ERP system experience is a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to communicate shortages, discrepancies, and material issues clearly

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in electro-mechanical or industrial manufacturing
  • Familiarity with fasteners and hardware identification, such as M3, M4, and related components
  • Inventory control or cycle counting experience
  • Experience working with production or assembly teams
  • Experience handling wiring, connectors, PCBs, hardware, or small components

Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay Rate: $20-$25 per hour, depending on experience
