Job description

Panda Pediatrics is looking for a self-motivated, compassionate pediatric medical assistant with a friendly smile and cheerful demeanor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Call back patients to the exam rooms, maintain work flow from patient check-in, follow established protocols and procedures.
  • Interview/ triage patients. Take basic medical history, family history, past medical/surgical history, etc.
  • Measure and record vital signs on every patient: weight, length/height, heart rate, blood pressure (if 3 years of age or older), respiratory rate, and head circumference (if 2 years of age or younger).
  • Perform vision and hearing screens.
  • Administer immunizations and discuss various immunizations, follow ImmTrac. Update vaccine records.
  • Perform blood draws: heel stick, finger stick, and venipuncture.
  • Perform inhouse (CLIA waived) labs: dip urinalysis, rapid strep, rapid flu, rapid RSV, rapid COVID-19, stool guaiac test. Collect cultures.
  • Prepare, restock and clean examination rooms between patient visits.
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, return patient phone calls, and schedule appointments. Track lab and radiology results.
  • Inform patients/ parents of normal lab and radiology results.
  • Scan incoming patient medical records, lab/radiology results, and consultation notes into individual patient charts. Fax patient medical information to the specialists.
  • Obtain pre-authorization for medications, referrals, and therapies. Send patient's referral information to the specialist or therapist. Be familiar with patient referral procedures.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Must want to work with children.
  • Prefer medical assistants with at least one year of active clinical experience.
SKILLS:
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Highly responsible and self-motivated.
  • Be people-oriented.
  • Be child friendly and enjoy working with children.
  • Fluent in Spanish (and comfortable with medical Spanish terminology).
EDUCATION:
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.
