RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum

- Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
- Unit Information:
- See ~1500 patients per year.
- 29 beds
- 1 OR suite
- Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years of LDRP exp
- Will you accept a first-time traveler? No
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- LDRP – common high-risk diagnoses seen: PPH, Diabetics requiring insulin gtts, PROM, placenta previa, etc.
- GYN surgical – commonly seen: hysterectomy
- Patient Ratios:
- RN: Acuity based
- CNA: 1-3 per shift, 1 is usually a ST
- Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
- RN: BLS, ACLS, EFM, NRP – Required
NCC-EFM or RNC-OB preferred.
- Skills required: Must have the skillset to work LDRP
- RN: Experience with the all aspects of LDRP patient care, circulating c-sections, experience with newborn care to include heel sticks, 24 hr testing, NAS scoring, lactation support
- Support within the Department:
- OB Tech – 1 per shift
- CAN/ST – 1-3 per shift
- Receptionist/HUC – patient registration, visitor mgmt. and unit secretary duties
- Charge nurse
- Case Manager
- RT 24/7
- Hospitalist or OB Physician, 24/7
- OB Physicians – 2 OB practices
- Pediatrician
- Lactation Consultants
- No remote Tele Monitoring
- Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips
- GE Corometrics Fetal Monitors; GE Panda Warmer
- Within region and scope of practice
- Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
- Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
- If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
- Scheduling:
- RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
- Shift times: 7a-7p; 7p-7a
- Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
- Other notes:
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue scrubs or business casual to/from work; hospital issued scrubs while at work
